Course Description
In addition to board approval for CEs, this course is designed to meet the specific requirements of the Florida Statute requiring 1 CH of continuing education for those providing direct care to patients with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders in long-term care. This course is approved to meet the requirements of the Department of Elder Affairs for the nursing home one-hour requirement, Training Provider #ALF 754, Curriculum Approval #NH AD9632.
Purpose and Objectives
This program emphasizes direct care of those with cognitive impairment. At the conclusion of the program the participant will be able to:
- Distinguish between normal aging and memory loss from Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
- Identify the characteristics of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
- Communicate effectively with residents who have Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

Linda is the educational administrator, author and instructor for Consultants for the Future. She is a graduate from Iowa State University and Columbia Pacific University and was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities as a doctorial student. She has taught hundreds of seminars and authored home study courses for over thirty five years in healthcare continuing education.

Her clinical experiences include acute and long term care, including experience as a flight nurse in the US Air Force and as an educator in a college based nursing program. Linda has a passion for life-long learning and is always on the breaking edge of the latest information in health and healing, integrating both conventional and alternative approaches. Linda has been honored as a keynote speaker at several conferences and conventions, including the Spring 2005 conference of the Iowa Department of Health where she spoke about energy healing.
